– Download
– Unpack
– The final installation path must be short such as D:\Games\COM3D2_EN\. The updater doesn’t like long paths.
– Make sure that you have admin permissions over that drive
– Run “set_install_directory_com3d2_EN.cmd”. This will add the registry keys so that the updater will know where the game is located
– At this point you can run the game and update it further if necessary but it won’t be uncensored.
– Update the game (if necessary) from >>> https://com3d2.world/r18/update/ before proceeding with the next step.
WARNING: DO NOT EXTRACT UPDATES OR DLC IN THE COM3D2_EN FOLDER OR IT WILL MESS THE ENTIRE INSTALLATION BEYOND REPAIR
– In order to get mods and uncensor working you will need an AIO pack that installs the framework, necessary plugins and uncesored skins.
COM Modular Installer
=====================
– Using this AIO installer, the update and cleanup process was streamlined and is much easier to customize the plugins selection to fit your needs.
– You can get it from >>> https://github.com/krypto5863/COM-Modular-Installer/releases
How to download from Github >>> https://i.imgur.com/pU7E8eu.png
– You can also search for it on Custom Maid Discord server
All CMI related issues should be reported on Discord in #com3d2-support.
[If you want to get it from Discord, use the search bar and type “in:meido_mods COM Modular Installer” or ping @NoctBot with the keyword “CMI” or “modular” in #com3d2-support]
– You should update CMI every once in a while. Game updates may break plugins and a CMI update will fix them.
– Download COM Modular Installer, read the 50 page documentation, then run it.
– Use the “Non-Japanese Localizations AIO-Like” or “Similar to Noctsoul AIO” or “Doc’s selection” preset when installing. Don’t make plugin selections yourself if you don’t know what you’re doing or you haven’t read the documentation. Also select ShaderServant from the list because you’ll need it.
NOTE: CMI detects that you have English version and offers to disable potentially dangerous modules. Click “No” and think this through for a moment.
i18nEx is not needed in English version unless you want to follow the CM3D2 linking tutorial later. Otherwise it could cause issues. You should disable it for now.
XUnityAutotranslator is useful to translate Japanese mods or CM3D2 items title/description or anything that is not in English.
Basic preset is completeley useless if you want to use downloaded character presets. To prevent later issues use the “Non-Japanese Localizations AIO-Like” or “Similar to Noctsoul AIO” or “Doc’s selection” preset. Scroll through the list to make sure that at least you have AddModSlider selected and double check what else you need.
– The default installation is based on BepInEx and you shouldn’t change that. Sybaris II support in CMI was discarded anyway. Having “Sybaris” folder in the game directory after CMI installation is perfectly normal. Do not delete it!
– Proceed with installation.
– By default CMI will cleanup and backup any old CMI installation or any other failed Sybaris/BepInEx AIO installation
– That should be all. Enjoy
– It may or may not be necessary to run the game as admin
How to install DLC
New DLC will be listed in chapter 6.1. Everything else is preloaded in the repack.
WARNING: DO NOT EXTRACT DLC AND UPDATES TO THE GAME FOLDER OR YOU WILL MESS UP YOUR GAME BEYOND REPAIR
DLC content is repacked in 7zip archives for better compression. Extract each of them in a folder of your choice, but not directly in the game folder. Inside every dlc folder is an installer. You simply run the installer and that’s about it. There are very few english dlc installers that will require you to run them with Locale Emulator or Japanese locale. Try that if you get an error when installing.
When you are installing DLC and game updates, the game must not be running and you must not have anything opened from the game folder.
WARNING: When installing a DLC, never tick the checkbox that says something about overwriting files. Installing a DLC or game update automatically updates files that are marked with “O” and ignores files marked with “X” because they are newer versions and overwriting them would cause a downgrade and who knows what other issues.
Newer dlc installers are built much safer because they don’t allow you to downgrade files when you tick the checkbox but instead overwrite files of the same version in case some files got corrupted over time if you have a bad storage drive.
